Hát lehet nem nagyon kéne Xeno-s oldalakat nézegetnem, de megtaláltam, amit akartam. Hogy nem olyan komoly az összefüggés kötük? Hát akkor ezt olvasd el.

"Xenogears Evangelion Similarities

According to Perfect Works, the majority of the Xenogears story was improvised a lot. Programmers went back and added the intro movie, the Gazel conversations and other things in order to tie the plot together as the game neared completion. Neon Genesis Evangelion ran on Japanese TV (1995 - 1996 with the movies in summer 1997) and Xenogears was released in Japan late 1997/early 1998. Therefore, some people have theorized that Xenogears could have taken inspiration from the success of Evangelion. This article is not written to support or disprove this theory; it is intended to observe the similarities and connections between the two medias and document them for others to form their own opinion.

To begin with, let's look at the overall similarities between the development of the two. Evangelion also goes by the name "Project EVA", whilst Xenogears was originally named 'Project Noah'. The rumoured Xenogears 2 (which was later disproved) was said to be called "Project X". When the movie End of Evangelion came out in Japan, people could buy a book called "The Red Cross book" which explained a lot about Evangelion. The logo on the book was a totally black background with a red cross and the words 'End of Evangelion'. This is similar to the Xenogears logo, which is black with a red X and the word 'Xenogears'.

Xenogears and Evangelion do feature some familiar themes and ideas. Both stories are heavily based in religion and mythology, and even use identical words (e.g. Yui, Hyuga, Magi, etc.) Both stories feature mechanical robots that have some importance to the outcome of the plot (Fei pilots Xenogears to destroy Deus, whilst Shinji's Unit-01 has an important role in defeating the Angels).

The two pilots themselves also share some similarities - each being traumatized at a young age by the death of their mother. Both are portrayed as brooding characters - Fei, particularly at the start of the game after he destroys Lahan, and Shinji throughout most of the series. Both characters are reluctant to become pilots, yet are forced to do so when their home is threatened by an enemy. In both cases, neither have any prior training in piloting it and the resulting battle ends with them harming other people, they are then persecuted by the brother of one of the victims and later, finally forgiven. (Dan in Xenogears and Toji in Evangelion.) Shinji suffers from the "Hedgehogs Dilemma". He wants to be friends with others but he is afraid he will get hurt, so he locks his feelings away. Fei feels that with his actions (at the beginning of the game) have lead to him hurting others, and he comes to fear what his powers will do to those he cares about. Both characters also share a similarity with the fact that they have a hobby/talent - Shinji plays the cello whilst Fei is an artist. The hero has a 'special bond' (or an attraction) with the red haired female companion --- Shinji Asuka. Fei Elly.

The machines that both characters pilot share some interesting similarities too - The most notable being that both Gears and EVA's are giant humanoid fighting machines designed for hand-to-hand combat. Weltall has System Id and EVA-01 the Dummy System. Their pilots have a mysterious connection with their machine and in both cases, the machine undergoes some sort of transformation at a crucial point in the story.

A lot of people have drawn connections between Emeralda and Rei. Both characters are artificial humans that possess the DNA code of the main character and were used as a device to advance the species. (Emeralda is referred to as "vessel for a new soul" a colony of Nanomachines whilst Rei is said to be an "Empty Vessels without souls".) Although Rei's personality and outward appearance is in fact closer to Primera, in terms of her purpose, she is closer to Emerelda. Krelian wants to use Emerelda to interface with Deus, whilst in Evangelion, Rei is used by Gendo Ikari in his instrumentality project.

Note also that the roles and motivations behind Gendou and Krelian are quite similar - both were influenced by the loss of a loved one (For Gendou, it was his wife, Yui, and for Krelian it was Sophia.) In both cases, the woman involved sacrificed herself for a noble cause. Sophia sacrificed herself for the future of the land dwellers and Krelian lost faith when he called out to a God that did not respond. Whilst Yui chooses to be absorbed into EVA-01 and remain there for mankinds future and Gendo was deeply affected because of this.

Both series have a group or organisation with 'great plans' for mankind. In Evangelion this is SEELE, who are responsible for the Human Instrumentality Project. In Xenogears it is The Gazel Ministry. Their mortal bodies were destroyed 500 years ago in the Days of Destruction, but their consciousness exists in the SQL-900 databank. They are planning on resurrecting Deus and using humans as parts for his heavily damaged body.

In Evangelion we see the "Tree of Life" from Sephirot, a cryptic representation of man, his soul and fate. SEELE's decisions are taken by the Path of Sephirot and the knowledge they obtained from the manuscripts of the Dead Sea Scrolls. In Xenogears the Path of Sephirot is mentioned as the trajectory taken by the Wave Existance when it was trapped within the Zohar modifier."
