"Setting: Island Nations and Queendom of Falena 15 years before Suikoden 1
The reason is mainly due to the director's comment that Suikoden 4 would be to Suikoden 1 what Suikoden 2 was to Suikoden 3. Based on this, one can assume that the plot for Suikoden 4 takes place either 15 years after or before Suikoden 1. Because 15 years AFTER Suikoden 1 puts the events smack dab with the Higheast Rebellion, it is unlikely that Konami would have two big events occur concurrently. Thus, I assume that there is a higher probability for the setting to be 15 years BEFORE Suikoden 1.
Why I assume Falena would be involved is largely due to proximity, and also because Falena can be an ideal enemy based on previously released information. The Queendom of Falena is known to have slavery (who are also used for gladiatorial tournaments) and assassins working for the queen. They seem ideal as an "outside enemy" for the presumably disunited Island Nations. The relationship would be similar to Jowstone and Highland (It has already been revealed that Snow is the son of a local aristocrat from ONE OF THE NATIONS within the Island Nations).
The involvement of Falena will also resolve the mystery surrounding Georg Prime, but that will be covered in the plot section of this speculation.
Otherwise, we would probably see Georg Prime involved. He would be at the ripe age of 23 years old. Perhaps the queen of Falena is a bearer of some nefarious True Rune, and would be the last boss. That would surely resolve the issue with the murder of the queen. Why is the necessary? This is because Georg Prime is one of the most important characters in Suikoden. He already existed by name in Suikoden 1. He even had character artwork in the instruction manual. Why would Konami go out of its way to do that for a character that did not appear in the game? He also appears in Suikoden 2 and plays no significant part in the plot. However, we learn about his past and how incredibly powerful he is as well as how he has an impressive resume. Why would we be told this if there is no intention to take his plot further? Georg Prime is considered to be the "Legendary Swordsman" in the Suikoden World, his name is even known in Harmonia. So yes, we should see more of him.
So how would Falena be involved? How about pure military aggression? The Island Nation is well known for their trade, which means they have resources. They also seem to be rather disunited based on the various different cultures that seem to habitate that place. So far we have seen European locales (Snow's fortress), Chinese-looking houses (Where Eleanor Silverberg is inside), cat-people, and there should also be folks from Amada's clan (or whatever).
So that is my assumption for now. It would be interesting if any of this actually happens in the game. "

De én folytatást várok, mondjuk a III után 3-4 évvel.
Sokkal jobb várni az utalásokat a korábbi részekre.
És különben is ha IV. részről van szó, akkor a logikusnak az tünne, ha valóban folytatás lenne...
Ha az első rész elötti eseményt akarnának földolgozni, akkor Suikoden 0-nak kéne lennie, mint a Resident sorozatnál.
