Categories:
There are 6 categories in total, these are as follows:-
SP - No addons*
SP - All addons allowed**
MP Coop - No addons*
MP Coop - All addons allowed**
MP Non-Coop - No addons*
MP Non-Coop - All addons allowed**
*No addons means official BIS content only.
**All addons allowed means any addon may be used (official or unofficial), as long as the missions meet criteria set in the rules.
Submission Rules:
Missions must be compressed into either Zip or Rar format.
The submitted zip/rar must not exceed 5mb (for the sake of simplicity we're calling that 5000000bytes).
The submitted zip/rar must contain only the mission pbo and a readme.txt file.
The readme.txt file must contain the following:-
Name:
Email address:
Mission Name:
Category Submitted Under:
Name of addons used: *only applies to missions in one of the "all addons" categories
Working download link to each addon used: *only applies to missions in one of the "all addons" categories
Basic instructions explaining how to install/run the mission and how to install the addons (if applicable)
Credits:
The mission must be fully playable, i.e. a mission that is only a trailer is not acceptable.
SP missions must contain a briefing and overview; MP missions must contain a briefing. Cut scenes/intro & outro are not compulsory but will in most cases contribute towards a better score than those without.
Entries must be created by the person named in the readme, any entries found to have been created by anyone other than the person named will be disqualified from all categories entered. People may team up and submit a joint entry, this must be noted in the readme.txt however any response from Bohemia Interactive will be to the first named person, any prize will go to that person, responsibility for sharing the prize will be with that person and we will hold no responsibility for disagreements arising from prize distribution.
People may submit a total of 3 missions, these can consist of one SP mission (addons or no addons), one MP Coop mission (addons or no addons) and one MP non-Coop mission (addons or no addons); each mission will be judged independently; however a person may only take one of the final 10 places. So if one person submits missions in SP and both MP categories only the best 1 of those can make it through to the last 10.
Anyone found to have submitted more than one mission for a category, or to have submitted missions to more than 3 of the individual categories will be disqualified from all categories. Technical issues being the only exception, these should be reported by Email to
Missions must not contain any copyrighted material. That expressly includes (but is not limited) to music/sound effects. Operation Flashpoint scripts that have been released into the community may be considered acceptable for use, however as with all 3rd party content it is advisable and preferred that permission is received, credit should also be given in the readme. All BIS created content including music/sounds may be used.
Submitted missions must be in English, missions will not be marked down due to errors in spelling/grammar. It is acceptable for people to receive help with the English and/or translation of their missions. If the mission maker received help with the English/translation that information (including name of the person who helped) must be included in the readme.txt file. It is perfectly acceptable for missions to be submitted that have string tables containing numerous languages as long as English is one of those.
The mission itself must not contain the name/Email address of the mission creator; this is due to the missions being judged anonymously. The readme.txt must be the only place where the mission maker is identified.
Submitted missions should be tested and fully working using Operation Flashpoint: Resistance patched to version 1.96.
Employees of Bohemia Interactive Studio, Bohemia Interactive Australia, Codemasters and competition judges are not eligible for entry to the competition.
Submitting a mission is seen by us as acknowledgement that you have read and understood all the rules.
Judging/Scoring:
Judging will be done by a mixed group of people from the Operation Flashpoint community who will offer different levels of knowledge, skill and personal preference to their decisions. Applications to judge the missions will be accepted up to the time that the competition closes, or when a sufficient number of judges has been found, whichever is soonest, the minimum amount of judges will be 10 to give an accurate and balanced rating for each mission.
The competition will run through a number of stages. At the first stage we will exclude any that break the submission rules or are of a low standard. Missions that progress to the second stage will be made anonymous and then played and judged by the panel in closed sessions, those given the highest combined score will go through to the next round, this will continue until we have arrived at our 10 finalists.
The final stage will see 10 missions make it through; they will at this point all have won a signed T-shirt and signed "OFP Bestseller" edition. We will make the 10 finalists public and available for download, there will also be a public vote for the most popular mission with a separate prize awarded. The main prize will then be decided by a final round of judging.
The missions will be rated out of 10 for the following criteria...
-Briefing/Overview: (i.e. well thought out, interesting, informative)
-Playability (i.e. no bugs or glitches)
-Uniqueness (i.e. is it just another Desert Ambush clone?)
-Novelty value (i.e. creative use of scripts, addons etc.)
-Atmosphere/Realism: (good use of cutscenes, well thought out structure/plot, balanced combat)
The combined total will be shown as a score out of 50.
Entry Submission Method:
We have created a an online submission form. The form, which you will find here, should be straightforward to use, however any questions/problems should be sent to .
